TheyRave for Airbnb hosts

Guests who book direct cannot see your Airbnb reviews

Years of good stays live on your Airbnb listing and nowhere else. Set up a booking site to skip the fees, or list on a second platform, and every new guest meets you with nothing to read. Somebody about to send a deposit to a stranger's website wants to know what earlier guests said. A review page at your own address goes on the booking site and in the confirmation email.

When to ask

The day after checkout, once they are home and the trip still feels recent.

Send the link then, not in a follow-up a month later. A review is written in the mood the buyer is in when they get the link, and that is the mood you want on the page.

What to ask

The form has one box, and what goes in it depends on what you asked. These get an answer a stranger can use. “Great seller” does not.

  • Who was the trip for, and what was it for?
  • What was better than the photos?
  • What would you tell a friend thinking of booking the same place?

What lands on your page

An example, written to show the shape. The name, the tags and the verified mark come from the reviewer and the link they used, and nothing shows until you approve it.

Example

Booked it for my parents' anniversary. The welcome note had a list of places to eat that beat anything online, and the porch is even nicer than it looks in the pictures.

Worth knowing

Airbnb has its own rules about messages and outside links, and your account is worth more than any one review. Read them first. A card on the kitchen counter with your review link, or a line in the house manual, reaches the guest without a message at all.

◆ Free

Pick the handle at the end of your address and it is yours. Send the link, approve what comes back, and the page is live.
