Do your Etsy reviews move if you leave?

· 2 min read

Short answer: the reviews you earned on Etsy live on Etsy. As far as we know there is no button that exports them somewhere else. Etsy's own help pages are the place to confirm what happens to reviews when a shop closes or is suspended, because platforms change those rules.

What this means for you

Your star rating and your review text sit on your listings and your shop page. If you close the shop, move to another platform or lose access to the account, assume buyers can no longer read them there. A shop you open somewhere else starts with no history, even if you have sold for years.

Why it matters before it happens

Nobody plans for an account problem. They happen anyway, and on that day you are the one without proof. A buyer who has never heard of you does not care that you had a long record somewhere you can no longer reach.

What you can keep

Reviews that buyers wrote to you directly, by message or by email, are yours to keep. If a buyer wrote something kind in a message, you can ask them to put it on a page you own. That takes them one minute and does not depend on any platform.

A page you own

A page at your own address holds reviews that no platform can close. You send the link to a buyer, they write a few lines, you approve it, and it shows. It does not replace Etsy. It sits next to it, and it is still there if the shop ever is not.

Do it while the shop is open

The easiest time to ask is right after a good order arrives. Ask for the same thing Etsy would ask, in your own words, and send the link. Over a few months you build a record that does not live on one company's server.

Check Etsy's help center for the current rules on closing a shop and on reviews. This guide does not replace them.
