The frame check before you go live
TRBS looks at your camera for readable text, extra faces and bright panels before the stream starts, on your PC, and shows you where they are.
A letter on the desk, a diploma on the wall, a window with the street outside, a friend walking past: each can tell a viewer where you are. Before the stream starts, TRBS takes one still of your cameras and looks for three things. It runs on your PC, saves nothing and sends nothing.
What it looks for
- Readable text. Any printed word of three or more letters: mail, labels, screens, posters, school and team names. Handwriting and small or slanted text can get past it.
- Extra faces. More than one face in the frame. Each face past the first gets a box.
- Bright panels. Large near-white areas with straight edges. A window, a mirror or a monitor; the check cannot tell which, so it calls them all bright panels.
Screens, windows and browser sources are not checked. Only cameras and pictures are.
Going live
- Leave Check my frame before going live ticked under the Go live button. It is on from the start.
- Press Go live. The button says Checking your frame for a second or two.
- If nothing is found, a sheet says Nothing found. Going live. and the stream starts on its own.
- If something is found, the sheet shows your frame with a red box on each thing and a count of each kind. Move or cover what you do not want seen, then press Check again. Go live anyway starts the stream as it is. Not now closes the sheet and starts nothing.
While you stream
The check never runs on its own while you are live. If your camera's picture changes a lot, which usually means the camera moved, the Frame line under Go live says Changed with a Check now button. Press it when you have a moment. Nothing happens until you do.
Switching it off
Untick Check my frame before going live. Go live then starts the stream at once, as before.
What it cannot see
A clean result is a help, not a promise. The check reads print and counts faces; it does not know a landmark through the window, a team scarf, a parcel with your name turned away from the camera, or a reflection. Look at your frame yourself as well.
